Understand the Broadview Heights court path before you plead
Broadview Heights Mayor’s Court is held on the second floor of the City Hall building at 9543 Broadview Road. The city directs visitors to the rear main entrance, then to the second-floor Council Chambers to sign in. Its published instructions say an “X” or circle above the court date means appearance is required. The current citation and notice control.
The city expressly states that a not-guilty plea transfers the case to Parma Municipal Court for trial. That makes pre-plea review useful: the charge, alleged speed or conduct, police materials, video, test evidence, prior record and license consequences may affect both the defense and what happens after transfer.
Mayor’s Court cannot decide every allegation. Ohio law excludes domestic violence, protection-order violations and specified family- or household-member violence cases; qualifying prior OVI history can also remove mayor’s-court authority. Parma Municipal Court is the court of record with territorial jurisdiction, and a continuing felony prosecution ultimately proceeds in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

A not-guilty plea changes the forum
Broadview Heights says a not-guilty plea results in transfer to Parma Municipal Court for trial. I evaluate the charge and available evidence with that next forum in mind rather than treating the first appearance as an isolated event.
Bring the records the city identifies
Keep identification, the citation or appearance letter, proof of insurance, any bond receipt and documents showing compliance or payment. Add photographs, recordings and witness information that may bear on the allegation.
OVI allegations can involve two tracks
An OVI case can involve the criminal charge and a separate administrative license issue. I review the stop, operation, field sobriety evidence, video, breath, blood or urine allegation, refusal paperwork and prior history.
Traffic and speeding evidence is charge-specific

Domestic violence cases do not stay in Mayor’s Court
